Reverend Denise Cunningham-Doggett
Reverend Denise Cunningham-Doggett is beginning her fifth year serving as the Senior Pastor of Lake Shore Christian Church in Euclid, OH. She has served as an Associate Minister of Bethany Christian Church for 12 years, where the Rev. Dr. Robin E. Hedgeman is her pastor. She has been married to Rev. Jeffrey R. Doggett for 32 years and she is the daughter of Emma Jean Stewart. Denise accepted Christ as her personal Savior when she was 8 years old at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and she praises God for gifting her for use in His service.
Denise has best been described as the woman with the ten talents, but she believes in using her gifts to edify the body of Christ and glorify God. Denise is a gospel saxophonist and flutist and plays prophetically unto the Lord. Denise has a unique gift to blend worship and the word together to minister to the hearts of God’s people.
Denise is very committed to Women’s Ministry. She is involved with ministry support for wounded women and healing hurts from the past. She is involved with CWA (Christian Women in Action) in Berea, Women of Excellence, and has served as President of the Disciples Women’s Ministry of Bethany Christian Church for over 4 years. She is an advocate for women dealing with issues of brokeness, domestic violence, and low self-esteem. Denise is the Executive Director of ACTS (Acting Christians Teaching Salvation). She is the director and playwright of the Christian Drama “An Encounter with Jesus” as well as “The Old Rugged Cross,” which was initiated in a church basement at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church and was performed at Severance Hall.
Denise is a Worship Leader at various Church Leadership and Women’s Conferences. She loves to teach and preach God’s holy word. Denise has taught Praise & Worship as well as Spiritual Leadership workshops at the OCEA Conference in Ohio for the past 10 years. She teaches at many other retreats, workshops, conferences and seminars as well.
The ministry team of the Speak Life Ministries/ (The Judah Experience) was developed twelve years ago to take the gospel of the preached word and song to the uttermost parts of the world — “Zion in Calling Me to A Higher Place of Praise”. Denise was blessed to minister in Trench Town, Jamaica to over a 1,000 people a night at a 10-day Tent and Revival Crusade where she witnessed over 800 people accept Jesus Christ as Savior. In July 2006, she completed her 4th missions’ trip to Jamaica.
In her professional Life, Rev. Denise Cunningham-Doggett is now a bi-vocational pastor, and also working full time at Front Steps Housing and Services, (formerly Transitional Housing, Inc.) as the Employment Education Coordinator. In her current position, she assists residents with mental health and chronic homelessness to support them in permanent housing and spiritual support on their journey for self-sufficiency for employment and supportive services.
Rev. Denise served as an Advisor/Community Coordinator for Family Promise of Greater Cleveland, (formerly known as New Life Community) a homeless shelter on the east and westside of Cleveland. She witnesses and shares the love of Jesus as she ministers to “the least of these.” Denise has been making a difference in the lives of homeless people for over 21years.
IRev. Denise Cunningham-Doggett has served as Chaplain of the Cuyahoga County Section of (NCNW) National Council of Negro Women, where Grovine Buffington is the president. Denise supports civic and social agencies that are supportive of women in transitional stages of their life.
Rev. Denise Cunningham-Doggett is an advocate for social change. She believes in supporting those that are seeking transformation and is an advocate for racial reconciliation in her life mission in the world. Rev. Denise serves on the committee “Faith in the City” an Ecumenical prayer ministry in the City of Euclid to reflect the diversity and share the power of prayer to encourage those in the community. Each year Lakes Shore Christian Church host the Dr. King Celebration for the those in the community to lift up and learn more about the vision of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. for community service. Rev. Denise believes that God has called her to do a greater work in worship, word, and deed.
She is a graduate of Cleveland State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Communication and she received her Master’s of Divinity degree from Ashland Theological Seminary on June 6, 2009. She was ordained by the Christian Church of Ohio on June 7, 2009at Bethany Christian Church. Rev. Denise believes in transformative lives, she recently has obtained her license as a CDCA, Chemical Dependency Counseling Assistant in the State of Ohio in February 2017. She was trained at Moore Counseling and Mediation Services in Euclid, OH. Rev. Doggett is a life long learner and believes God is equipping her and preparing to do the Greater Work in this season to minister effectively to those who are in need of drug recovery.
Denise’s favorite scripture is “For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you, plans not to harm you; plans to give you a hope and a future.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
